I am Miranda Hemlee, an artist living and working in Tacoma, Washington, a place at the crossroads of urban and wild. I create one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry and fiber art inspired by my surroundings and my trade as a gardener living in the Pacific Northwest.
The stories told through the colors, textures, and rhythms of the wild and tended places within ourselves and nature are expressed in what I create in my studio and with the land. A sheep made from wool roving that still smells of meadow grass and loam. A necklace with garnets so deeply red that you become Persephone eating the seed of a pomegranate. These images and ideas are what drive me to the studio to create, communicating and storytelling through art.
I hope you find something here that resonates with a part of you as well. Please enjoy your stroll through The Wildwood 253.
